President John Evans Atta Mills have expressed misgivings about the use of foul language by politicians which incites people against one another. In his quest to entrench the peace and democratic gains made by this country, the President has said the use of intemperate language had created bad blood and heightened fear and anxiety among the people.
Differences in opinions must not lead to trading insults on political platforms and in the media he cautioned.He said the continuous use of bad language by politicians and other social commentators threatened the country’s cultural values and moral fibers. President Mill said it is worrying how quickly Ghanaians abandoned the country’s rich traditional values which upheld respect for one another. He also warned Ghanaians against the tendency for abusing the media freedom in indulging in mudslinging their political opponents.his was said in addressing the chiefs and people of Dormmaa Ahenkro in the Brong Ahafo Region yesterday. He said the country is in a very critical period which called for co-operation, unity and understanding of people. |
